Alongside cuts like
Teenage Monster and
Commando Girls, Cinderella Undercover is one of
Oingo Boingo's earliest songs as a rock band. Unlike its other unreleased contemporaries
however, Cinderella Undercover was finally released in
Boingo Alive after eight years in
Boingo Limbo, though it was originally supposed to be a track in
More Nervous Energy
(which later became
Boi-ngo).
From a tense What You See-esque rhythm to dreamy melodism, from howling to soulful vocals,
this song's various incarnations paint a great picture of Oingo Boingo's evolution.
